The Trinity Lutheran College Cross-Country program announced its 2014 schedule today. The Eagles, who are in their inaugural year as an NAIA institution, and in just their fourth year competing in Cross-Country, will compete in an invite schedule that will pit them against primarily NCAA Division 1, 2 and 3 opponents.
The season kicks off at the Puget Sound Invitational hosted by the University of Puget Sound on Saturday, August 30.
Under the direction of Head Cross Country-Coach Matt Koenigs who is in his third year at Trinity Lutheran College, the program expects to take a big step forward this fall.
“We have a solid core of returners and a nice recruiting class who have been putting in a lot of work already this summer,” said Koenigs.
“Both teams have a chance to qualify for Nationals this year.”
As a first year NAIA member, the Eagles are not eligible for NAIA postseason competition but will compete to earn a berth at the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) National Championships, hosted in upstate New York on November 15 at Houghton College.
