After obtaining a degree in marketing and advertising at Seattle Pacific University, Taylor Reed came to Trinity Lutheran College to study Visual Communications and expand his horizons in graphic design. He then went to work for Seattle photographer John Keatley as a studio manager. Taylor has since been promoted to Marketing and Creative Director. With the recent promotion, Taylor is being challenged to learn the ins and outs of ad agencies and editorial companies and how they can most effectively increase their clientele.
What inspired you to attend Trinity Lutheran College?
I decided to attend Trinity after my graduation from Seattle Pacific University. I had just finished a Marketing / Advertising Degree and was really interested in Graphic Design.
What professional endeavors are you involved with? How did you get there?
I currently work as Marketing and Creative Director for Seattle photographer John Keatley. I started six-months ago as Studio Manager and recently was promoted. I am currently working on a marketing campaign where I will be designing and conceptualizing how to effectively reach clients.
What career do you hope to pursue in your field?
Although I work for a great photographer and love photography, I feel like the next stage will be involving a creative ad agency. I want to land somewhere that challenges my creativity.
In your opinion, how has your liberal arts education from Trinity better prepared you for this type of work?
Although I had other student in my classes, the small size was so beneficial for me, and I felt like I was receiving personal lessons. I think this helped me learn at a much faster rate and equipped me well for the real world.
