New Academic Dean announced

Dr. Michael DeLashmuttPresident John Reed has announced the appointment of Dr. Michael DeLashmutt to the position of Academic Dean and VP for Academic Affairs at Trinity Lutheran College. In this role, DeLashmutt will have oversight over the college’s academic programs, provide leadership for accreditation and assessment, and supervise and mentor faculty.

DeLashmutt is a distinguished scholar, teacher and administrator who comes to Trinity from Luther Seminary, where he currently serves as Associate Dean of First Theological Degree Programs. At Luther, DeLashmutt has directed the seminary’s First Degrees Programs (certificates, MAs and MDiv degrees), working strategically to provide leadership, supervision and guidance to 600 students and 45 faculty. In addition, while at Luther, DeLashmutt developed resources to support faculty and to ensure the quality of student learning.

Before assuming the position at Luther, DeLashmutt worked as a lecturer and researcher at the University of Exeter. He has also held appointments at Sarum College (Salisbury), Northwest University, University of Glasgow and University of Aberdeen.

DeLashmutt holds a B.A. in Biblical Literature and Theology from Northwest University and a Master of Arts in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary. His Ph.D., from the University of Glasgow, focused on the intersections of theology and technology. In addition, he holds a postgraduate certificate in academic practice from the University of Exeter.

DeLashmutt will begin at Trinity on July 1, 2013.
