Biography: Dave Ellingson joined the Trinity Lutheran College faculty in 2004 after serving the church for over 30 years in campus ministry, parish ministry, regional administration, and college and seminary teaching. As a professor in the Children, Youth & Family Studies Department, he teaches courses in youth and family ministry, human development, spirituality, and social justice. He is a pastor of Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

Dave’s educational experiences includes teaching at Long Beach State University, Long Beach City College, Central Washington University, and Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary. He served as a parish pastor in California and Washington and as the Regional Coordinator of youth programs for a five-state area in the Northwest. He created and led several unique youth leadership programs including Evergreen Youth Television (youth video production) and Rainbow of Gifts (multicultural youth leadership development) and is director of the Service And Learning Leadership Team (SALLT) Project, which provides training and research in service learning.

Dave earned his B.A. in Classics and English from Luther College, his M.Div. from Yale Divinity School, and his D. Min. from Claremont School of Theology. He has done continued study in the areas of family systems, holistic health, and spirituality.

He loves to garden, read, kayak, and create bonsai. Dave is married and has one son and four daughters.
