Orientation

Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012 through Monday, Sept. 3, 2012

RA team 2011

Welcome to your Trinity Experience. The faculty and staff are delighted that you have chosen Trinity and Trinity has chosen you! We understand that this is an exciting and stressful time in life – exciting because of all the new opportunities that lie ahead, and stressful because of the many changes that you are facing.

Your success at Trinity will depend on you. You have the power to create your own personal experience, making college be what you want it to be. There are many resources, programs and activities available to you to engage you in your Trinity Experience. It’s up to you to take advantage of them.

At the same time, we come together around our community values and a common conversation. The faculty, staff and students here are committed to helping you successfully make the transition to Trinity Lutheran College and becoming part of our community. This includes answering questions and helping you solve problems, so don’t hesitate to ask for help when it’s needed.

In community together,

Andrea Ide
Dean of Students

Pathways for Student Success

  1. Be the driver of your Trinity experience, not a hitchhiker.
  2. Learn how to learn – if you accomplish this you will go far in life.
  3. Be accountable to the highest standards of scholarship, integrity and excellence.
  4. Make strong connections with faculty, staff and other students.
  5. Take advantage of academic assistance services like the Writing Center and connecting with your adviser.
  6. Support fellow students by attending athletic events.
  7. Explore Everett.
  8. Attend Trinity Student Government (TSG) and RA sponsored events – they’ll help you meet other people, and they are a lot of fun!
  9. Use your Trinity email account. Log in at gmail.com/a/tlc.edu and your address is firstname.lastname@tlc.edu
  10. Stay at Trinity for the first month of school – you’ll meet more people and more likely make more friends.
  11. Become familiar with Trinity’s library resources and how to use the online catalog and journals. For more help, attend a library session during the first couple of weeks of school.
  12. Find a balance between school, work and extracurricular activities.
  13. Make an effort to eat healthy, exercise and get enough sleep.
  14. Learn how to use Sonis to register for classes, check your account balance, view your grades and complete professor evaluations.
  15. Remember the world can see your Facebook profile, even faculty and employers! Make sure your profile represents you in a positive manner.
  16. Explore new sports and exercise opportunities by joining the Everett Family YMCA (2720 Rockefeller).  Students are given a free membership, so be sure to sign up and get your Y card during Orientation.
